The number of Universities located in the region also ensures a ready supply of graduate calibre recruits and the universities also offer graduate placement schemes.
South East Wales has a population of over 1.5 million people, and the excellent transport links, ensure that all the working population have the opportunity to work anywhere in the region. This ability to commute is one reason why the Newport/Cardiff area has been very successful in securing investment in financial services, professional services and contact centres.

Workforce Availability:
In South East Wales we have a workforce with the skills set that your business wants, and if they don’t then we’ll help you find a training programme that does provide the skills you need. The unemployment rate in the region is currently 4.4% (July 2011), slightly above the UK average rate of 3.7%. Programmes such as Welsh Governments ReAct II support businesses that employ workers who have been made redundant reducing the unemployment rate whilst increasing the skills set and experience of your workforce.
