Transport

The region has an excellent transport infrastructure with excellent road and rail routes, 3 port facilities and an international airport.

With easy access to the remainder of the UK and Europe South East Wales has developed a number of international logistics firms as well as having representation from most of the recognised national names. This is supported by a range of warehouse developments that ensure your goods can be quickly despatched to any location, UK or the rest of the world.

By Road:

Brecon Beacons RoadFrom London and the south east, South East Wales is within an easy three hour drive along the M4. As soon as you crossed the River Severn by either of our bridges you have arrived. The main towns along the motorway are Chepstow (accessed from M48), Newport, Cwmbran, Cardiff, Caerphilly and Bridgend.

From the midlands and north, Birmingham is a simple two hour drive along the M5, the M50 and A40 with brings you directly into South East Wales at Monmouth. The north of the region is easily accessible down the A449 to link with the A465 dual carriageway.

By Rail:

Arriva Trains Wales Valley Lines Train

Rail links into the region enter through Newport. There are direct rail links from London Paddington operated by First Great Western, Birmingham New Street and International and Manchester by Cross Country. Arriva Trains Wales operate a North-South service through Shrewsbury. For full details of the Rail network visit national rail.

By Air:

Cardiff International Airport

Cardiff and Bristol airports are served by a number of low cost carriers as well as scheduled carriers. Cardiff International airport is served by KLM who link to the world through their Amsterdam hub and Helvitic airways link to the rest of the world through Zurich.

Heathrow is approximately two hours along the M4 and Birmingham International approximately  two and half hours up the A40/M50/M5.

By Sea:
Newport, Cardiff and Barry are home to commercial ports all are operated by ABP. Outside of ‘Capital Wales’ ABP also operate ports in Port Talbot and Swansea, all have easy access to the M4 for further distribution.
Around the region:

Ryder Cup BusThe main east/west road links are the M4 in the south and the A465 in the north. They are linked north/south by a number of main roads, many dual carriageways. The rail network for South East Wales marketed locally as ‘Valley Lines’ is provided by Arriva Trains Wales (Click here to download 'Valley Lines' Services routemap). The region is served by a number of national bus companies including Stagecoach and First. Traveline Cymru provides information on all public transport within South East Wales.
