Aside to playing home to the international rugby and football teams, the region is home to hundreds of grassroots rugby and football clubs, the respective union and association websites will have details of all the clubs. But no matter what your sport South East Wales has it…the sports Wales website has details of what’s available in your chosen area of South East Wales.
South East Wales is the spiritual home of Rugby in Wales, reflecting this three of the four Welsh regional teams are located here. Rodney Parade is home to Newport Dragons, Cardiff City football club ground share with the Cardiff Blues in the Cardiff City Stadium, whilst the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field in Bridgend is home to the Ospreys during the LV= Cup tournament.
For those who play golf, we offer quality in abundance, including the Ryder Cup 2010 course at Celtic Manor, supported by Championship courses to the north, south, east and west. Our newest sporting development is Cognation our international Standard Mountain biking facilities.
And not forgetting that great British institution Cricket. For the more ‘summer’ orientated sports viewer the Swalec stadium in Cardiff is home to Glamorgan Cricket Club, playing in the county championship. The Swalec Stadium also plays host to 20:20 and Ashes Test matches.
The hills and valleys offer leisure walks or, for the more adventurous, the start of the Offa's Dike long distance walk and, to the south, the start of the Coastal Trail. Our coastline is a real treat for any adrenaline junky, from surfing and Kayaking to Coastering; we even have an international standard white water centre.
From quad biking to pot holing, Go Karting to shooting and everything in between, South East Wales has it all!
