Aberdare Town Centre Regeneration Team has launched an impressive newsletter this Valentines Day (14th February) to ensure residents continue to love the changes taking place in their town.

The newsletter details all the up-to-date information on the £7.7million scheme being undertaken in the town. Published by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, the four-page bilingual newsletter is being distributed to over 12,000 homes and business premises in the Aberdare area.

The first edition of the newsletter highlights the changes that have already taken place in the town and how the Council secured the massive cash injection in the town centre from the Welsh Government through the European Regional Development Fund, Heads of the Valleys Programme and Targeted Match Funding along with Heritage Lottery Fund, Cadw and Council and private sector contributions.

It also provides information about how funding is available for town centre property improvements, under the Aberdare Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) and Townscape Enhancement Programme (TEP) These offer financial support to businesses and property owners to make external and internal building improvements to enhance the quality of the premises and bring disused space back into use. With a foreword from the Leader of the Council, Cllr Russell Roberts, the newsletter outlines forthcoming works and how members of the public can contact the Town Centre Works Liaison Officer with any queries or concerns.

Cllr Paul Cannon, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development & Safer Communities explained:

“It is essential that residents, businesspeople and indeed visitors are regularly kept informed of the major developments being undertaken in Aberdare town centre over the coming years. By ensuring good communication with the general public, we can make the message loud and clear of the next phases of work and the over-arching regeneration plans for Aberdare. Publishing regular newsletters such as this are an excellent tried and tested approach which helps alleviate any concerns individuals may have on the impact of the work, and also promotes the success which will undoubtedly have a lasting and positive impact on Aberdare like never before.”

Copies of the newsletter are also available in Rhondda Cynon Taf Libraries and One4All Centres.

You can also read copies of the newsletter online by visiting the Council’s designated area on the website for Aberdare Town Centre Regeneration at www.myaberdare.com
