Local Investment Fund
The Local Investment Fund (LIF) is a flexible grant scheme delivered through a partnership across the Local Authorities of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Torfaen. The project has been developed with support from the European Regional Development Fund, under the Convergence Programme. LIF provides financial support to help eligible businesses realise their ambitions to develop and grow, by supporting investment in capital projects. The LIF fund is specifically designed to support a range of SMEs.
The grant is aimed primarily at the manufacturing sector and associated services. Retail is not eligible, but other sectors are considered. Applicants will need to demonstrate that a significant proportion of their activity is business to business, and that they have the ability to ‘add value’ or offer net benefits to the local economy (e.g. through the creation of new jobs). Grants from £1,000 up to £10,000 are available, based on 40% of the eligible project costs. Eligible capital projects could include:
External and internal building works and alterations
Expenditure incurred before grant approval is not eligible for funding.

Please Note: Many of our partners are now operating a reserve list for the LIF fund; a fresh allocation (June 2013) of funding has been distributed to our convergence area partners, providing a six-month extension on the scheme up to June 2014.
