Porthcawl Elvis Festival

For Elvis Presley fans, there is no better place to be each September than the seaside resort of Porthcawl for the annual Porthcawl Elvis Festival. For one weekend each year the town is swamped with Elvis fans, lookalikes and tribute acts enjoying the atmosphere and the various concerts and events throughout the area. The highlight of the weekend is the big Elvies award ceremony where the best Elvis impersonators are rewarded for their work.
2) Cardiff Harbour Festival
Celebrate Cardiff's nautical history at the Cardiff Harbour Festival on August bank holiday weekend. All weekend a series of events, exhibitions and demonstrations take place on land and sea whilst a packed entertainments programme and food and craft stalls all add to the flavour of the event.
3) Big Cheese
Caerphilly Big CheeseBeneath the turrets of the magnificent Caerphilly Castle, the Big Cheese Festival springs into life each summer. A feast of street performers, historical re-enactments, music, dancing and entertainment.  The whole thing is free and is one of the biggest events on the South East Wales calendar with over 80,000 people visiting during the course of the weekend.
4) Cwlwm Celtaidd - InterCeltic Festival
Wales' biggest Celtic Music Festival is held each March in Porthcawl. Musicians, singers and dancers from all over the Celtic world all come to the town to perform in a series of concerts and events throughout the week. The highlight of the weekend is the colourful Parade of the Celts which sees the performers walk through the town in traditional costume to open the festival

Tantalise your taste buds at the Abergavenny Food Festival, one of the biggest and best food festivals in the country with six venues throughout the town, 200 stalls lining the historic streets and 80 individual events and demonstrations. Tens of thousands of people visit the event, all looking to enjoy a taste of local food and drink. 
6) Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival
Set in the heart of Cardiff Bay, the annual Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival is a food lover's paradise. Hundreds of stalls promoting the very best in Welsh and global food and drink. There'll also be plenty of demonstrations, music and events throughout the weekend.
7) Winter Wonderland/Calennig
Cardiff Winter WonderlandGet in the festive spirit at Cardiff's Winter Wonderland. For 6 weeks each year, Cardiff's City Hall lawn is transformed into a magical Christmas experience for people of all ages. At the heart of the festivities is the ever popular ice rink but if you don't fancy that you can relax in the ice café bar or take to the skies for wonderful views of Cardiff from the big wheel. The Winter Wonderland will also be the location for Cardiff's Calennig (New Year) celebrations.
8)  Caerphilly Medieval Christmas Fayre
During December experience the sights, sounds and smells of a town and castle preparing for Christmas at the Caerphilly Medieval Christmas Fayre. Listen to seasonal period music and laugh at the hilarious frolics of the Jester, while you browse the medieval market within the castle walls and town centre. With over 150 traders selling tasty food, replica medieval goods and traditional crafts, there will be plenty of opportunity to find that extra special gift.
9) Wales Rally GB
Wales Rally GBBased in the capital and staged in the forests of South East Wales, the Wales Rally GB is the culmination of the World Rally Championship. The rally was the first to have an indoor stage when the cars raced around the Millennium Stadium in 2005.
10) Celtic Manor Wales Open
Fresh from the success of hosting the 2010 Ryder Cup, top class golf returns to Newport's Celtic Manor every June as it hosts the Wales Open. First established in 2000, the tournament is now a firmly established fixture on the European Tour. Past winners of the Wales Open include Graeme McDowell, Paul McGinley and Miguel Ángel Jiménez
